Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice

This blend is pure autumn in a jar. Cinnamon gives it warmth, ginger brings the sparkle, nutmeg adds that nostalgic note, and cloves and allspice deepen the flavor. A tiny bit of cardamom adds floral and citrusy notes. It’s the little secret that makes pumpkin pie, lattes, and baked goods taste like a cozy afternoon in your favorite sweater.

  • Black Pepper ⅛ teaspoon: Adds a gentle warmth and depth without overpowering.
  • Mace ¼ teaspoon: Slightly more delicate than nutmeg with a soft spiciness.
  • White Pepper a tiny pinch: More mellow than black pepper but adds a hint of intrigue.

Notes

Tami’s Kitchen Notes
  • Spices lose their potency and aroma over time, especially once ground, so try to use fresh ones if possible. A quick sniff test tells all, if it doesn’t make you smile, it’s time to refresh your spice rack.
  • I like making this blend in small batches right before the holidays so everything I bake, from pumpkin scones to roasted nuts, has that irresistible, fragrant lift.
  • It’s also a thoughtful homemade gift for friends, coworkers, or dinner hosts. Unlike a ready-made dessert, this lets them enjoy the warmth of the season whenever they’re ready to bake.
